Famous Game Consoles

The game consoles industry was changed for ever in 1985 with the introduction of Nintendo. The famous games like Mario Brothers and Donkey Kong took the world by storm. Not bad for 8 bit machines.

Sega tried to fight back with their own console The Sega Saturn which had moderate success with revolutionary graphics and game play for that time. Music and electronics giant Sony decided to step into the home console game industry with is Sony Play station that was a 16 bit system and combined with just a huge amount of games to choose from simply destroyed Sega's chances of every competing as far as hardware home consoles are concerned.

Sega decided to stick with the software side of the business with some amazing titles that are still very popular to this day. Soon Nintendo came out with Super Nintendo system to compete with Play stations market saturation. Nintendo stepped up the game with Nintendo 64 the first 64 bit system to hit the market. It simply blew away the 16 bit systems but did not have the software titles to sustain any real market saturation in the ever aging video game market.

Sega tried a come back once again with Sega Dreamcast 128 bit system that was awesome and for the first time you had arcade game ability in your very own living room or bed room. As Nintendo already found out Sega could not keep up with Sony's domination and software titles. So back to the software business they went.

Nintendo found out that they had a niche market to go after and that was the children games and under 17 market. Later introducing systems like Nintendo Gamecube and Nintendo WII. They quickly carved out their niche and will be around for a long time.

Playstation 2 came out and of course they taped into the huge market domination that they had already secured. With their huge amount of games to choose from and awesome new system they kicked but again.

Sitting back watching this ever growing market was the biggest software company and richest man on the planet Microsoft's very own Bill Gates. He put together an awesome team and they came out with Microsoft Xbox. The biggest richest software company in the world will have the best games ever. So far they are doing a great job.

As the market and technology is ever changing and technology getting more powerful every month mixed with the whole online gaming industry which is a spin off from the home console industry Microsoft came out with Xbox 360 that is internet ready for a small fee of 10 bucks a month you can play on Xbox live and play with people in the same game from all over the world. Playstations answer to this was Playstation 3 that seems to be incredible as expected we will see what the future lays ahead for this ever changing yet simply awesome industry.
